Our recent work with on Edinburgh Zoo's website - www.edinburghzoo.org.uk - went live on November 16th 2009 and we are pleased to annouce that there has been a subsequent and significant increase in traffic and revenue. The aim of this project was to:

  • signficiantly improve customer-focus, usability, content and presentation
  • optimise for search engines
  • completely redesign webforms for handling financial support with the goal of increasing revenue generation.

We have just received outline web stats for November 16th 2009 to January 14th 2010 and they are a staggering improvement on the same period in the previous year.
 
For example overall website visits topped almost 100,000 (with the number of unique visitors up by a quarter), key sections of the site such as http://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/animals/ experienced enormous increases in traffic whilst the first 14 days of January 2010 saw supporters use the website to make substantial voluntary donations at the same point as they joined the zoo or sponsored an animal species (this is completely unprecedented in the zoo's history).
 
31% of all applications to join the zoo or adopt an animal species were handled via http://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/support/.
 
These figures demonstrate the return on investment that our services can achieve. They also highlight that even when there is a recession, the right investment, with the right digital agency, can deliver significant results.
