Forms On Mobile Devices: Modern Solutions - Smashing Magazine

Mobile forms tend to have significantly more constraints than their desktop cousins: screens are smaller; connections are slower; text entry is trickier; the list goes on. So, limiting the number of forms in your mobile applications and websites is generally a good idea. When you do want input from users on mobile devices, radio buttons, checkboxes, select menus and lists tend to work much better than open text fields.

But constraints breed innovation, and mobile forms are no different. The limitations of mobile devices have forced developers and designers to find new ways to allow users to input data faster and more easily. Thanks to the modern solutions covered in this article, the mobile space may not be a place to avoid forms much longer. Instead, it may become the place to encourage them.

40 Beautiful and Creative Package Designs For Your Design Inspiration ...

Whether it is wine, tissues, home goods or food, we rarely take a second look and appreciate the time that has gone into its initial presentation. BBC Mobile - Home

The BBC has relaunched its mobile BBC website to keep up with the widget-enabled desktop version of the BBC's website, although it is fully available to online users as well.

The site is available at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/betahome/ and has been in beta for some time; punters can try it using a virtual phone screen which allows them to scroll and click around to get the feel.

Users will be able to customise their homepage and can either shrink or expand sections - like in the full size version - depending on their likings.

BBC Coders have been particularly keen to make the site compatible with the latest smartphones and have added to the list the following: iPhone, iPod Touch, Google Android, phones equipped with Opera's browser; the Nokia N Series and 'high-end' Nokias, Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones loaded with the popular Net Front 3.3+ browser as well as some Blackberry models.
